Ballymun Lullaby

Nobody wanted to come to Ballymun Lullaby with me. And not because I'm a Norman No Mates. They were worried that it would be a paternalistic cringe fest wearing a knuckle-duster and a baseball cap. So their loss, because it really wasn't (unless that talking beard Glen Hansard was on screen; did you know he got an Oscar?) Revel in the naive philosophies of young people who just happen to be from Ballymun. This documentary is ocular proof that all environment really has to influence is your accent and what bus you get into town. My favourite was the lyricist - like an even angrier Morrissey in a tracksuit, but that's unfair, because everyone's pretty exceptional, whether they're schoolmums, kids in the choir, the future of Irish music, or the highly motivated organisers behind inner-city music projects. / Kate Frances Coleman
